A Note from Jerry
"Music
has always been a big part of my life. I started playing guitar
and singing around the age of 14. In the last 30-some years I
have toured and played in bands all over the country. There are
so many different facets to making a flute. Each wood has different
properties and that has made it an interesting journey. What
I really love is when I get that last finger hole finished and
I play the flute fully for the first time and hear the voice
of the flute. Each flute is totally unique. It's a magical moment.
Hard woods give a totally different sound than soft woods. The
loudness stays the same. The tone is different. Out of the hardwoods,
I really like Purple Heart. It's hard as a rock and difficult
to work, but it gives such a wonderful bright clear sound. Out
of the soft woods, Eastern Red Cedar is my favorite because it
has such a warm tone."

Making Native American
Flutes & Performing
Lisa,
Jerry, Jesse and Michael can make Flutes. We perform. We play
at gatherings, weddings, funerals etc... We participate in a
couple of sponsored events throughout the year ( The St. Louis
Renaissance Faire, The Oklahoma Flute Festival, Cherokee Holiday,
National Audio Theatre Workshop and a few others.) We donate
two flutes for public auction, twice a year to our local public
television station. We believe that public television is refreshing
and necessary in this world of commercialism that we live in.
We are working on another documentary for Ozarks Public Television.
We are always writing music and working on our next CD. Most
of all, we love to get people started playing the Native American
Flute. We'd love to build you a flute. Click Here |
